In episode 5, Myul-mang (Seo In-guk) observes Dong-kyung (Park Bo-young) with puzzlement, trying to figure her out. After following her for a while, he realizes she carries a heavy burden of sorrow and wants to lighten it. He covers her eyes and leads her to Dong-kyung's special beach in Jeju, nestled along a coastal walkway. She says that when she was young she wanted to come here every day and cry, and shares her childhood story. They kiss awkwardly and then return home as if nothing happened. Later, in episodes 10 and 11, when Dong-kyung leaves Seoul and misses her family and friends, he finds her here; she finally breaks down and admits her wish is to live. Myul-mang confesses that he too wants to live, and wants to be with Dong-kyung until the very end.
