In Episode 2, a scene is depicted where An Jong-gu (Heo Jae-ho), the son of a murder victim, approaches social worker Seo-young (Lee Joo-yeon) and pressures her. In front of Building 5 of this apartment complex, he asks where his mother's ledger is. He grips her fiercely, but police detective Jae-seop (Choi Young-jon) manages to stop him in time. Jae-seop later speaks to her on a bench and hears about the victim's son's gambling habit. Seo-young also relays that the murder victim Jung Mun-ok (Park Hye-jin) had called her the night before to ask about her will. Later at the police station, Jae-seop recalls Seo-young looking up at the apartment rooftop while talking. With that hint, he rushes to the rooftop, opens the access panel, and finds physical evidence of the murder.
